Most parents choose carefully when selecting an infant/toddler or preschool program for their children.
With so many options, it might be hard to determine which one is best for your family.
Head Start is funded by the federal government and is available at no cost to income-eligible families.
Central Arkansas Development Council Early Head Start/Head Start/Arkansas Better Chance is a dually-funded early childhood education program serving infants/toddlers and preschool-age children in Pike, Montgomery, Clark, Hot Spring, and Saline Counties in central and southwest Arkansas.
Head Start implements a research-based curriculum with the goal of preparing vulnerable children to succeed in kindergarten. The Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five describes the skills, behaviors, and knowledge that programs must foster in all children. It describes how children progress across key areas of learning and development and specifies learning outcomes in these areas.
Head Start is a comprehensive program designed to help families. The children are evaluated for learning and physical delays and disabilities. They are given free vision, speech, developmental, and hearing tests, as well as physical health and dental checkups. If it is determined that a child needs therapy, or other follow up services; our program will assist in scheduling the needed services to support the needs of the children and their families.
Head Start also works to educate the parents. Our centers encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom and even offer parenting, nutrition or other training for our parents free of charge.
In the state of Arkansas, early child care centers have a quality rating system called Better Beginnings. Better Beginnings is designed to improve the level of quality in childcare and early childhood education programs across the state. Better Beginnings distinguishes the quality of each Arkansas child care facility by a 1, 2 and 3-star rating system.
CADC Early Head Start/Head Start/ABC has a Better Beginnings Level 3 star rating. CADC EHS/HS/ABC has 100% of Head Start/Arkansas Better Chance Lead Teachers have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; with six of those Lead Teachers holding a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, and 50% of Teacher Assistants have the minimum of a CDA and 12% of Teacher Assistants have an Associates Degrees.
